Who makes the stairlift, and who supplies it?
A manufacturer produces the equipment. A brand is the name under which it is sold. The supplier deals with your purchase and may arrange the survey, fitting and servicing.
One company can perform all these roles, or a dealer can supply products made by another business. Some suppliers offer several brands; others work with a particular range. Ask which products the company can actually supply for your stairs.

Manufacturers and brands you may come across
The following are names that UK buyers may encounter, with product information checked against their UK websites on 30 October 2026. This is a guide to their roles and ranges, rather than a product ranking. Sales routes, prices and local support arrangements differ.
Stannah
Stannah manufactures stairlifts in the UK and offers straight and curved equipment, an outdoor model and different seating arrangements. It sells new and reconditioned stairlifts and provides direct quotations. Ask for the exact seat and rail combination; higher saddle seating should not be assumed to be a stand-on product. The suitable model and current warranty should be confirmed as part of the proposal.
Acorn Stairlifts
Acorn lists the 130 for straight stairs, the 180 for curved stairs and the 130 outdoor model. It offers direct UK quotations. Handicare
Handicare lists straight, curved and outdoor stairlift systems with different seating and rail options. Products may be supplied through its partners. Companion states that it is part of the Handicare group and its stairlifts are manufactured by Handicare. Check who is responsible for the contract and support on your quotation.
TKE Home Solutions
TKE Home Solutions' UK website lists the S100 for straight stairs and the S200 for curved stairs. Compare the current product details and quotation rather than carrying over a specification or offer from an older article.
Bespoke Stairlifts
Bespoke Stairlifts describes UK design and manufacture in West Yorkshire, with a dealer network. Its range identifies Synergy as its straight model and Infinity as its curved model. Ask the supplying company to identify the product, proposed rail arrangement and aftercare.
The range still needs to fit your requirements
A straight flight, stairs with turns and an outdoor route call for different equipment. Rail systems may be made to order or configured from modular sections. Either approach requires an assessment of the staircase and person using the lift.
Ask about seating, controls, user limits and parking positions for the particular model. A brand offering a wide range does not mean every model can be installed in your home. Our personal buying guide helps you match these questions to the user's needs.
Use brochures to check the proposed model
Find the specification for the model on your quotation, including the seat, user-weight limit, rail and powered options. Check which items are standard and which cost extra. A figure from another model in the range may not apply.
Ask the supplier to explain any difference between the brochure illustration and the proposed installation. Product information helps you prepare questions; the home survey establishes what is being recommended for you.
Which companies can provide a quotation?

Does the manufacturer always install the lift?
No. Installation may be arranged directly or through a supplying company. Ask who would carry out the work and which business would provide the warranty and servicing.
Is there one best stairlift manufacturer?
This guide does not rank manufacturers by comparative reliability or independent product testing. Compare the equipment that can meet your needs, then assess the seller's proposal and aftercare.
Can I order from a brochure without a survey?
A brochure can help you identify options to discuss. The proposal still needs the measurements and assessment appropriate to your stairs, landings and intended user.
